Grand Prize Winners: National Seafood Month Photo Challenge 2018 Wrap-Up

For National Seafood Month 2018, we hosted a photo challenge asking chefs, restaurants and everyday sea-foodies to get involved by posting an appealing photo of a sustainable seafood dish each week in October, in sync with our weekly themes, and to use the hashtag #SeafoodMonthChallenge. We also asked folks to provide the sourcing information for their seafood and say the Seafood Watch rating in the photo‘s caption, encouraging participants to investigate seafood products and put our sustainable seafood recommendations into practice.
As an incentive and to create some competition during our National Seafood Month Photo Challenge, we worked with some of our larger corporate business partners to provide some enticing prizes, including gift cards from Blue Apron, Disney and Whole Foods Market. And to top it off, Lindblad Expeditions donated two expedition cruise packages as our grand prize! One being a five-day expedition to Baja California and the other a five-day expedition to the Channel Islands in California. Last year we had about 200 entries over the month and this year we doubled it, receiving over 400 entry posts!

Each week we celebrated two winners: an at-home chef winner and a professional chef winner, allowing us to engage everyday home cooks as well as culinary experts and businesses.
You can view our weekly winners and top entries in the blog posts below:
Week One: Fish Tacos
Week Two: Bivalves
Week Three: Seafood Pasta
Week Four: Finfish
The Lindblad Expedition cruise packages were saved as the grand prize and awarded to the two participants who posted each week and had the best overall photos.
